One of the challenges in the first stages of starting a business from home is the requirement to consistently accomplish tasks that, for many of us, are tedious and repetitive. This has certainly been the case in my internet marketing coaching business.
So, here are 5 ways to help render these first days a little less arduous:
1. Appreciate Why You Are Attempting It
If you are sure of what you wish to attain from developing your own business, vs a job, you can remind yourself of your reasons when the work gets difficult. The more exact you are the better. Don’t just pronounce I want to make money. Clarify how much you want to make on an annual basis and then spend a while considering why you picked that precise amount.
Pay particular attention to exactly what you’re wanting to set up in the future which you could do or have in some form immediately. Then don’t delay. Do it now.
2. Don’t Keep on Telling Yourself Downbeat Communication
Don’t continue telling yourself how “tedious” you find it – or whatever your particular moan is. Don’t talk around it, either to other folks or inside your head. Simply take care of it.
The brain is a magical bio computer. It feeds us energy when we feed it anything that inspires and it slows us down when we feed it anything negative or downbeat.
The critical bit to appreciate is that we’re the ones who are conveying the ideas to the computer. Life itself does not feed the brain anything at all. Only we do, by the way we interpret what life presents and the tale we tell ourselves in relation to it. For instance we could say “These tasks are dull and tedious and I don’t want to do them” or we may say “This course of action is a necessary stage along the road that’s taking me closer to what I desire and it will not always be like this”. Each are interpretations and stories. However, one gives us energy and enthusiasm and the other irritation and weariness. Sending yourself positive messages in one of the easiest motivation techniques to implement.
3. Break Up Your Work Into Manageable Chunks
Don’t work on any one activity for more than 45 minutes. And divide up the work with something different that calls for you to move your body and move away from the computer screen.
4. Celebrate Your Wins
Rather than focussing on what is still outstanding make a record of what you have carried out. By way of example, in my on line marketing work, I’ve found it encouraging to put a chart on my wall that I fill in each time I create another article. Also, I have one that represents the amount of articles submitted. Watching the numbers rise shows me that I am accomplishing something, even though the anticipated outcomes of my effort, in relation to unique visitor numbers, search engine rankings etc. have yet to be delivered, and this makes me remain motivated.
5. Take on Something New
During the time your day by day work is still at the phase of boring and repetitive it’s worthwhile making the time to learn something new. This might or might not be related to work. However, DO NOT do this, until you have finished your key work tasks. If your business is online, don’t spend your spare time reading internet marketing articles, for example.
Research demonstrates that the brain essentially adds physical capacity (similar to the way an exercised limb adds strength) when you gain knowledge of something new. It does not just add the information, it adds “learning strength” by means of dendrite growth in the physical brain that can actually be measured.
If you learn a new foreign language, or a musical instrument, by way of example, your brain literally grows smarter and more skillful at fixing problems. So keep your brain healthy by balancing out the dullness with something fresh and stimulating.
No matter what you decide to do, there is no getting away from the requirement to develop discipline and keep repeating the necessary activities daily, if you choose to make a success of your home-based business. I hope the 5 tips above will make your labors a bit less demanding so, before you know it, you will be able to outsource this activity and spend greater time doing the projects which are most inspiring for you.
