Xerox 4500 Printer:  Not New, But A Frequent Printing Machine

When it comes to technology, printers have never really been something to consider as revolutionary. They went from dot matrix to black and white, and from bubble jet to laser, but overall their purpose didn’t change, unlike computers. The Xerox Phaser 4500 printer is an example of an older model, still in use today, still producing a great end product with its Xerox Phaser 4500 toner.

This particular printer is a monochromatic printer, black text, no color. It’s a laser jet printer as well, so it prints rather quickly as far as printing goes. It’s a great machine if what you care about is making a hundred copies of your resume, or if you’re printing off reports or something of that nature.  If you are looking to print photos and portfolio-grade images, then it is not the model you need in your office.

What that means for a potential buyer is that you can’t get a new one. You can still get it used online or at some kind of electronics pawn shop though. But if you were planning on getting a new printer anyway, then a newer model would be better as their price is practically the same.

This model was made obsolete because it was replaced by the 4510 and 5550 models, both of which are office printers (monochromatic laser jets). They’re basically exactly the same as the 4500 except that they might print a little faster or hold more information or toner. Add in the fact that their price isn’t that much different, if at all, and it might make getting a new one a better idea after all.

If upgrading is only minor by comparison, but you still want to upgrade, there’s another way. The Xerox Phaser printers are all upgradeable, including the 4500. You can get a bigger hard drive for it to holder a bigger printing queue, or make it print faster, or whatever you need. Upgrading one piece at a time could be a waste of money, but if it’s only a difference of one or two things, it might not be. It all depends on how much of an upgrade you’re looking at.

At least replacing the old printer has been made a little easier by most companies with trade-in policies. They claim that if you want to trade in an older model printer for a newer one, they’ll take the older one and give you a discount towards your purchase. It may not be that much; in fact there’s no way of knowing exactly how much, so it may not be that great depending on your situation.

Regardless of what your situation is, though, most places claim they will find something to do with your older model, as a way of encouraging people to make the switch. And when it comes to getting a new printer, you’re more than likely not going to have a use for the old one. That being said, there’s not really much to lose, even if you don’t get much at all in the end.

It is definitely easy to upgrade or transition, but deciding which route to take probably isn’t. If the Xerox Phaser 4500 printer is really that outdated for you, then price may not be an issue, and if it doesn’t make that much of a difference to you, then this may not even be something to consider. It all depends on what you plan to use it for, though chances are it’s for office-style printing, so it may turn out to just be a waste of time.

If you have this printer and you need replacement Xerox Phaser 4500 toner cartridges, you have more options than just local retailers for Xerox Phaser bulk toner.  Online merchants offer cartridge toners for nearly every model available, so this is always a source.
