Print resolution is fairly standard when it comes to this particular HP model, coming in at a fairly nice 600 dpi. Resolution can be 1,200 dpi when the Hewlett-Packard image enhancement technology tool is used. As far as what’s better, it would all depend on the application the printer is being used for. For most general business types, 600 dpi ought to fill the bill quite well.

The automatic paper input tray can hold up to 250 sheets of paper with little trouble. Its output bin can hold half that amount, also with little effort. It can deal quite easily with many different sizes of paper and media type stock, including transparencies, envelopes and card stock, as well as custom media stock through a custom feeder slot.

Maximum monthly duty cycle — meaning the maximum number of printed pages per month the printer can image — is a more than acceptable 7,000 pages. For the environment in which the printer is intended to operate (small office/home office or very small network), this duty cycle should be more than adequate. After 7,000 pages, minor maintenance would be required, but it is really just very minor in character.

In all, there’s a lot to like about the HP LaserJet P1005 printer series. It combines a nice price (listed at $167) that brings one a printer that can be easily connected to most any personal computer and will run off of a variety of Windows-based operating systems. It’s also durable and delivers excellent print product at a decent rate of speed sufficient for probably most home office or small office uses.
